So as you know from this post my husband has made the massive decision to try and quit smoking. This really is a big deal for him, he’s been doing it forever and as a mechanic it’s almost part of his lifestyle. He has tried several times before, the last time was when I quit after finding out I was pregnant. He went to the doctor, got a prescription for champix and did quite well. He was moody as you like and ate me out of house ad home but he did ok. Then we had a bit of a scare with our 20 week baby scan and it all went wrong. He started smoking again that very day! He enjoyed smoking, but I think now it’s getting colder he’s had enough. I won’t allow him to smoke indoors, that’s been banned since I found out I was pregnant. Nor can he smoke in my car, or his if I’m In it. So it’s a long walk downstairs to stand in the cold for a cigarette that he doesn’t really want, but is a habit. A need if you like.
He was sent a lovely silver electronic cigarette and liquids from vape the ape it arrived Tuesday and he had his first vape very late Tuesday evening on his return from work. I had put it on charge when it was delivered so it was ready to go for him. It’s very easy to charge, it comes with a USB charger which I plugged into my laptop and the charging light on the cigarette flashes whilst charging. When it stops flashing it’s ready, it states on the website that a full charge will last 6-8 hours but my husbands been working 12 hour shifts and it’s been fine. I think it’s dependant on how often you vape during the day.
He received three liquids to try, these being
golden roly. which is the closest flavour you can get for the brand of tobacco that my husband smoked.
natural tobacco and cola blast
He has really enjoyed vapeing with golden roly, he even went as far to say the other day that it’s more enjoyable then smoking.
Had I not been sitting down, I would have fallen over. This is not something I ever expected him to say.
The cola blast actually tastes like the old fashioned cola bottle sweets which has gone down a treat. A fun vape that makes a nice change from golden roly. He has really enjoyed this flavour and it’s on his reorder list.
The natural tobacco is not one he will order again, he found it dry and bitter. Not appetising for his tastes, this is not to say it’s not for everyone. It’s just not for him.
So far the pros are)
He can use it anywhere, he’s not outside in the cold anymore!
Rechargeable and a short charge time.
A long battery life.
Refillable, (not all brands are)
It looks great!
Sense of smell has returned after three days, he can now smell tobacco on his friends who smoke.
Saving money. (Always a great pro!)
Enjoying the fact that he doesn’t stink of cigarettes anymore, nor his car.
Plenty of flavours to choose from.
Lots of designs of the actual cigarette to choose from.
It’s quite heavy. (His mate has a cheaper non refillable one which is lighter)
Refilling was tricky to begin with, you need steady hands.
The only other comment so far is, because he can use it everywhere he might find himself using it more. This is yet to be proved though and as it’s not full of all the bad
crap rubbish I really don’t think this is a massive con. It’s something to bear in mind though.
Vape the ape can be found online, on twitter and Facebook. You can purchase a starter kit from £39.99. The liquids come in three strengths, 11mg for smokers of up to 20 a day, 18mg for around 20 a day and lastly 24mg for smokers of over 20 a day which is what Michael’s currently using. They come in 37 different flavours so there will be one you like, these include bubble gum, menthol and even cubana cigar! The average user will use approx 20ml a week which is two bottles. At £2.99 a bottle this is incredibly cheap, £6 a week!? I used to spend that a day and I’m pretty sure that 20 cigarettes cost a lot more then that now for one packet.
I shall continue to blog about Michael quitting journey, it’s a hard one to make and I so don’t want him to do it alone. He’s doing so well, he’s been vaping now for five days, and has not smoked a single cigarette in all that time. I’m so proud of him *gushes*
So tell me, have you ever tried quitting using an electronic device? Has reading this made you want to try and quit using an electronic device? I would love to hear your stories and comments down there in the comment box please.
